Done over at Tegaki. I've been on a bit of a drawing Nathan Drake kick, and it made me realize how much people don't care about him. XD; He's essentially the new face of NDI, and the lead in their new franchise, and no one seems to care. People are still fixated on Jak, and are ignoring this great, goofy, and damn fun character in Uncharted. I don't know how much of it is people just don't have a fucking PS3 and aren't willing to pay 600 bucks to play one game, and how much of it is people don't want to move on to a new franchise.
Don't get me wrong, I still love the Jak series, but can we acknowledge that NDI knows how to make good characters, and that MAYBE Uncharted will be just as good? Honestly, I have only played a demo, because I can't afford a PS3, but some time this summer, after the boyfriend's done with MGS4, I will be playing it. Because it looks fun, and if NDI made it, it can't be bad. lol.
So I'm gonna keep going with my one person fandom here. For a game I've only played a demo for. lol.
DAMN it's been a long time since I've drawn Jak. x_x
Dude, I have a PS3, and I'm gonna go buy Uncharted over the weekend. I've watched a whole bunch of cutscenes on YouTube, and I love Drake. He's handsome and funny as shit.
I DO still have a very special place in my heart for Jak, though. Because he's a fairly decent and satisfying pissy angst-monster, and everyone needs at least ONE of those in their list of fandoms somewhere... I like NaughtyDog's new franchise, although I'm really not ready to leave the old one behind because it still has massive and unimaginable potential that NDI doesn't seem willing to apply. Jak games could be TRULY epic if they just made them right. But they're not, so that's that. :<
Sales actually aren't that great for Uncharted, as I hear. Many people aren't willing to pay that much money for a PS3 (I bought mine in November after the $100 price drop), let alone blow another $60 on a game. Most people don't have that kind of healthy financial status to afford it, even if they really wanted to. I know that was certainly MY problem. D:
I haven't even played the demo yet for Uncharted, but I know it's gotta be an awesome game. A great addition to my very small collection of only 2 games... Ratchet and Clank Future... and Motorstorm. >>

lol everybody is a Tegaki whore nowadays(not meant to be an insult)
you were always one of my fave Jak fanartists even tho you came to dislike doing it but yeah. B:
i have no clue who the other character is tho. it be nice to have a PS3 but right now there are no games out there yet that appeal to me..plus $600 is still a lot of money x__X
but anyways nice sketch. you make Jak look super sexy. always.

if you want, the PS3 interwebs has the demo. I'm sure you can get it to see if you like how it plays. It's a pretty challenging game. But they did a good job making the controls seem almost natural for a long standing NDI game player. It's the gun fights that are a bit tough. They make sure to keep you moving through cover.
No doubt, Jak is one of my favorite game characters, and I do love him, and the entire worlds potential. It was so big, and so open. It made for countless OCs in the Jak fandom. lol. Every once in a while, the rumor spreads around that there's a Jak MMO in the works, but i think it's just the whispers of hopeful fans.
I don't think sales are doing well for Uncharted because it's a game that's trying to strike out on it's own, instead of cling to the coat tails of a successful franchise, and it's on a currently failing and unpopular console. I think it's going to be a late bloomer, and when the second one comes out (because lets face it. When has NDI made just one game?) it will do better.
And yeah, game costs are a killer. Which I also think has an effect on how the game sells. Who wants to risk their money on a game they're not 100% on? I sure as hell don't. But I also trust NDI to make a good game, and reviews echo that it is.
Lawl, nice work. I was like, "ho SHIT, is that Jak???" XD
I've never played either game, sorry. *gets smacked*
I think it's more of a "No one wants to buy a PS3." Plus, there's not been much publicity - that I'VE seen - but that's not much, since I haven't seen G4 or picked up Game Informer in like, AGES. Not so mainstream...?
Ha, and don't worry about being on a kick. That guy I came up with and showed you in Surface? Monday night I couldn't stop drawing him. His name is now Trigger... (wtf... but it works, seriously)
Hahaha, now I gotta stop putting it off and get back to work. XD
O.o holy shit that is some sweet Jak...it HAS been forever since you last drew him and lemme say, you're improving drawing style makes him look oh so good lol. And I know this was just for shits and giggles but I freakin love the look on Nathan's face.
I think I can agree with you on the aspect that because the PS3 is so expensive for us poor people, the game isn't getting the lime light it so rightly deserves. I mean, I haven't even gotten the chance to play the demo yet and I really do like how the character acts in what I've seen from game clips and trailers. But because its gonna cost me 600 plus to get the console and the game (even tho I am seeing more and more games I would love to have but only come out on the PS3) I personally am seriously turned off.
I love Sony. It was one of my first true consoles as a kid because the Nintendo we owned was never MINE...but I'm strapped for cash as it is and I can think of a lot better things right now for 600 bucks.

That is me.
Gonna take more than one game for me to go a get a PS3. Since I only play like....four games on my PS2...and we all know what four games those are!
But I would play Uncharted (the family really like Tomb Raider. So it's not that far out of the realm of a game we would all play) but not until there is more games on the PS3 that I know I will play.

Yeah. there's not enough on there to make me spend that much money. That's why I'll wait until the boyfriend buys one. 8D
